KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING § Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the subject of Economic & Business with experience in national or international curriculum (such as CNC, IPC, IMYC, PYP/MYP/IBDP; IGCSE, British NC or similar) § Able to guide and support student subject-related questions and facilitate inquiry-based learning where appropriate. § Knowledge and understanding of curriculum and assessment development in Economic & Business § Be culturally sensitive and respectful of local traditions. PLANNING AND EXPECTATIONS § Identify clear teaching objectives, content, lesson structures and sequences appropriate to the subject matter and the students being taught § Set appropriate, differentiated and demanding expectations for students’ learning and motivation § Set clear targets for students' learning, building on prior attainment and experiences § Liaise with the HOD to determine the learning objectives of learning topics, themes and integrated interdisciplinary tasks § Sets high expectations for students; inspiring, motivating and challenging students to achieve excellent progress and ambitious outcomes § Demonstrates extensive knowledge and use of informal and formal assessment to refine practice and promote the highest outcomes § Deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that inspire and challenge students. TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT § Set high expectations for student behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through well-focused and inspiring teaching and through positive and productive relationships § To assess student’s achievements and progress in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. § Mark and monitor students’ class and homework providing constructive oral and written feedback. PARENTS AND COLLEAGUES § Foster positive professional relationships with parents and colleagues. § Know how to prepare and present high quality informative and appropriate reports to parents. § Understand and act upon building effective relationships with school agencies and partnerships beyond the school. § Establish effective working relationships with professional colleagues, such as, co-teachers, specialist teachers and associate staff to ensure a high quality and engaging professional learning community. § Set a good example to the students they teach in their presentation and their personal conduct. DEVELOPMENT § Understand the need to take responsibility for their own professional growth and development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy and in the courses they teach § NAS Guangzhou teachers evaluate their own teaching critically and use this to improve their effectiveness. MANAGING RESOUCES § Select and make good use of books, equipment, IT and other learning resources that enable teaching and learning objectives to be met. § Assist in maintaining an up to date learning resources and materials inventory including classroom hardware and software. PASTORAL DUTIES AND EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES § Be a homeroom teacher to an assigned group of students. § Promote the general progress and well-being of students and of the homeroom as a whole. § Liaise with head of phase to ensure the implementation of the school's pastoral system. § Communicate, as appropriate, with parents. § Promote your department within the school and the local community. § Support the life of the school beyond the classroom. § Lead one or more agreed after school activities each week. § Participate in residential weeks and other trips as appropriate. § Contribute to whole school learning initiatives. § Contribute to the wider school community by getting involved with charitable events and performances. § Please note that all teachers at NAS Guangzhou participate in duties other than teaching.
